About Overlander
Overlander's fine reputation for quality battery assembly began over 30 years ago, way back in mid 70's when they started manufacturing car buggy packs in Leicester. The range of cells and packs has continued to grow to meet the needs of UK modellers and in addition to batteries, Overlander's range now includes the finest accessories, motors, speed controllers, electric model planes and many other items that you will find on display throughout the country via our network of retailers.
All our Overlander Sanyo and GP packs are assembled here in the United Kingdom, on UK manufactured machines at our new factory in Forton Our trained operatives use pure 100% nickel tabs for linking our cells, not nickel plated steel. For the modellers benefit we always conform to manufacturers best practice assembly recommendations.
All the joints of attachment to the cells are capacitor discharge resistance welded in milli seconds. For solder connections, such as wire connections, we use non-corrosive flux and high grade non lead solder. On Power Packs there is insulation on all the major joints, this is with Kapton, TMK insulation or Nomex, all resistant to 200 degrees centigrade. This reduces the risk of a meltdown, where the whole pack shorts out as a result of insulation breaking down on a single cell through damage, excess heat or being shorted out. These packs are made without compromise, as we appreciate the value of our customers costly models.
To keep control of pricing, and to save the modeller extra cost, all our other packs including the Tornado range of batteries are assembled in Europe or China to our exact specifications, we also take pride in visiting our suppliers, we regard all our products being sourced or manufactured in China as good as our "home grown" we are also keen to see that there are good working conditions and ethical standards for these distant workers. As a modeller you will save without conceding to low quality.
Over 1000 products are available from our web site, catalogue and retailer network, our broad categories serve mainly the Radio Control modeller, but we also manufacture and supply many NHS trusts, University education and research, Aerospace industries and our product is also favoured by a major F1 team. We introduce many new products every year, growing our range for the modellers benefit.
For you the modeller can rest assured that Overlander never compromises quality, and we always deliver value for money. To keep our modellers best advised and supplied Overlander invests in testing equipment, and works with many of the industry professionals and commentators. We also support relevant competitions such as F5D (electric speed pylon) to justify our battery performance claims, especially Lithium cells where our performance is unsurpassed.
We are proud of the way we operate, and we actively encourage our retailers to visit our premises to view our systems, equipment and testing methods.
